Security & privacy
Private by default.
Here is what is public, what is private, who can see what, and exactly what you control. No vague claims; the real rules the product runs on.
What is where, and who decides.
Nine things people ask about, answered the same way each time.
- Public profile information
- What it isYour name, post-nominals, role, story, experience, education and links.
- Who can see itAnyone with your address or code, once your page is turned on.
- What you controlTurn the page on or off. Edit anything at any time.
- Private credential data
- What it isEach credential's name, issuer, number, dates and status.
- Who can see itYou. On your profile, only the credentials you set to public, and the number only if you turn that on.
- What you controlA visibility switch on every credential. Numbers hidden by default.
- Private documents
- What it isThe files you upload: cards, certificates, letters, your résumé.
- Who can see itYou, and a recipient of a share you created that allows documents to be opened.
- What you controlDocuments are never shown on a public profile and never reachable without a link you made.
- Selective shares
- What it isA link to specific credentials, for one person.
- Who can see itAnyone who has that link while it is working. TrulyMe does not verify who opens it.
- What you controlWhich credentials, which permissions, how long, and whether it stays on.
- Permission choices
- What it isSee details. Open documents. Download files. Download everything.
- Who can see itExactly what you granted and nothing more. Each grant is separate.
- What you controlDownloads are off unless you turn them on.
- Expiration
- What it isWhen a link stops working on its own.
- Who can see itAfter 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, a date you pick, or never.
- What you controlSet per link. A link with no end date keeps working until you turn it off.
- Revocation
- What it isTurning a link off.
- Who can see itNobody can open it from that moment, whatever its end date was.
- What you controlOne tap, any time. It cannot be undone; make a new link instead.
- Downloads
- What it isA copy of a document saved to someone else's device.
- Who can see itOnly when you allowed downloads on that share.
- What you controlRevoking stops future access. It does not delete a copy someone already saved while they were permitted to.
- Share activity
- What it isWhen a link was opened, a document viewed or saved, and when it was turned off.
- Who can see itYou, on each link's page.
- What you controlUse it to decide when to turn a link off.
The moment you turn a link off, it stops working for everyone, whatever its end date was. It does not delete files someone was previously permitted to download. Those copies are theirs.
A credential appearing on your public page shows its name, issuer and status. The document behind it is not public, not searchable, and not reachable from the page.
A file on record backs what you entered. It is not an independent check with the issuer, and TrulyMe labels it “Document on file” and nothing stronger. TrulyMe does not call anything verified.
How it is built
Plain facts about the system.
- Every record belongs to an account.Access rules are enforced in the database for every table, so one person's data is never returned for another's request.
- Documents are stored privately.Files live in private storage. They are served only through a share you created, via links that expire quickly.
- Sign-in is yours alone.Your email and password, with a reset flow. Nobody at TrulyMe can see your password.
- Nothing is sold.TrulyMe does not sell your data and does not share it with employers unless you do, through your profile or a share.
- What we ask you not to upload.Social Security numbers, health records, drug test results, background checks or passport scans. TrulyMe is for professional credentials.
- Status is never invented.Current, expiring soon, expired and no expiration come from the dates you entered. Nothing is labelled verified.
- Private by defaultDocuments and details stay with you until you decide otherwise.
- Share what you chooseSpecific credentials, specific permissions, one link.
- Revoke future accessTurn a link off and it stops working straight away.
- It travels with youOne profile and wallet, from job to job and state to state.
What you share is yours to decide, and yours to stop.
